AEP Series A Upgrade to Release 7.2 Now Available

Location of Upgrade Files and Resources
The Series A upgrade files for both hardware and virtual editions, along with the latest technical documentation, are located at the Release 7.2 support page. (From www.aepnetworks.com, click Support and then click Application Access Support.)

What's New in Series A Release 7.2

  • Citrix XenServer (v5.6.0) and Microsoft Hyper-V (Windows Server 2008 R2) hypervisor support.
  • VASCO Authentication Enhancements: Manage large numbers of Digipasses more efficiently with the latest improvements to the VASCO Digipass management section of the Series A Adminsitrator Site.
  • New Report Type Added: A new summary report type has been added that contains general usage information such as the total number of logins over a given period of time. This type of report is ideal for billing purposes.
  • Customizable Standalone Tunnel Messages: Login and error messages may be customized for the standalone Tunnel client via the Customization menu section of the Series A Administrator Site.
  • Chinese Localization: Chinese language is now available as a localization option for the end user interface. (System Configuration>General>Local)
  • Tunnel Startup via CLI: The Series A Tunnel client can be started and stopped via command line interface.
  • Universal Printing Policy Granularity: Universal printing privileges for applications (Secure RDS & RDP via Port Forwarder) can be granted on a per user or per realm basis as well as for all users.

What's New in Release 7.0
The upgrade release also provides these features initially available in release 7.0:

  • Reporting: Produce user activity reports for auditing, compliance, and usage measurement reporting. Have reports auto-emailed at regular intervals.
  • Access Level Management: Limit privileges for users who do not pass client integrity checks for remediation options or to allow business continuity with a reduced level of access.
  • Mac Tunnel Client: Tunnel support for Mac clients running Snow Leopard, Leopard and Tiger OS with i386 and x64 architectures has been added and are available as web-based and standalone clients.
  • Cluster Configuration Sync: Configuration profiles among appliances in a load balanced cluster are synchronized for ease of management and consistency.
  • Application Configuration Improvements: Administrators can list and modify the groups to which an application belongs via the Applications>Configuration menu.
  • 64-bit OS: Series A's operating system is now 64-bit. The latest Series A hardware models (2500/4500/6500/8500) support 64-bit as well as older models with a 64-bit processor. For virtual editions, Series A's Virtual Appliance VMware host must be 64-bit compatible.
  • 256 bit Key Length: For added security, administrators can require clients to use a key length of 256 bits.

Professional Services Available
Because Series A release 7 and later represents a significant re-design resulting in faster performance and more, the upgrade process for migrating from release 6 to release 7 is more time consuming than previous upgrades. You may prefer to have AEP perform the upgrade for you. Contact GGB Internetworking or AEP (support@aepnetworks.com) for more information.

Thin Service End of Support Reminder
The Series A Thin Service will no longer be supported after 30 June 2011. For details click here.
